Synology RS411

De Synology RackStation RS411 maakt net als elke andere server van Synology gebruik van de DiskStation Manager (DSM) software en beschikt daarmee over vele handige functies en applicaties. Denk daarbij aan de ingebouwde mail server (Mail Station) met ondersteuning vaan POP3, SMTP en IMAP, Web Station om tot 30 websites te hosten en met ondersteuning voor PHP/MySQL, Backup Station om lokaal of via het netwerk backups te maken (tevens met ondersteuning voor Apple TimeMachine) en File Station, de applicatie om waar dan ook toegang te krijgen tot alle belangrijke bestanden (ook beschikbaar voor iOS en Android). Naast alle applicaties is er veel aandacht besteed aan veiligheid wat resulteerd in vele krachtige opties zoals encrypted FTP (TLS/SSL), HTTPS-versleuteling, IP-blockade en een Firewall.

Om dit alles betrouwbaar en snel te laten functioneren beschikt de RS411 over een 1.6 GHz processor en 256 MB DDR3 geheugen. Voor uitbreiding zijn er 2 USB 2.0- en 1 eSATA-aansluiting beschikbaar op de behuizing. De RS411 heeft een dubbele gigabit LAN aanlsluiting zodat ook als een van de aansluitingen het begeeft er nog zonder oponthoud door gewerkt kan worden en met de 4 harde schijf nissen (3,5" SATA) is een maximale opslagcapaciteit van 12 TB mogelijk.

Cross Platform File Sharing & Backup
The Synology RS411 offers a centralized backup target to consolidate fragmented and unstructured data across a network. PC Users can back up their data to the Synology RS411 using the free Synology Data Replicator software, while Mac OS X users enjoy native Apple® Time Machine integration. A web-based backup wizard is provided for backing up data in the Synology RS411 to another Synology DiskStation, RackStation or any rsync server via an encrypted transmission, or to an external hard drive via USB or eSATA connection. In addition, backing up to the cloud using Amazon® S3 service is also supported.

Full-featured Business Applications
Internet file access is simplified by the encrypted FTP server, the web-based File Browser and File Station. HTTPS, firewall, and IP auto-block support ensure file sharing over the Internet is protected at a high security level.
A wealth of additional features allows the Synology RS411 to replace several pieces of network hardware. Synology Web Station with support for PHP/MySQL content allows for the hosting of up to 30 websites on a single Synology RS411. Synology Surveillance Station offers a centralized interface to safeguard the office environments by deploying IP cameras throughout the network. The Mail Station add-on turns a Synology RS411 into a mail server with only few steps of installation, and the USB printer sharing capability minimizes businesses’ printing cost by sharing printing resources throughout the office.

Energy Efficient Design
Synology RackStations are designed and developed with energy efficiency in mind. Compared with its average server counterparts, the Synology RS411 consumes a relatively low amount of power at 53 watts only in operation. The support of scheduled power on/off and hard drive hibernation help to further reduce power consumption and operation cost.
