Naast de standaard 1GbE aansluitingen krijgen steeds meer NAS systemen een 2,5GbE aansluiting. Hierdoor kunnen bestanden sneller gelezen en geschreven worden. De switch waarop de NAS is aangesloten samen andere apparaten die deel uit maken van de communicatie zullen voor een optimale snelheid ook minimaal 2,5GbE aansluiting nodig hebben. Indien enkel de switch 2,5GbE ondersteunt en de cliënts nog op 1GbE zitten wordt gelijktijdig dataoverdracht wel sneller.
